Was drafted 27th in 2007 Major League Baseball Draft.
Very few starting pitchers in Major League Baseball have been better than Detroit’s Rick Porcello since May 5. He is 5-0 with a 1.50 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP in 30 innings. He doesn’t have a high number of strikeouts (20), but with numbers like that - you can absorb the hit to Ks. The 20-year-old will likely hit the wall eventually, but get him now while he is dominating.
As for batters, Minnesota’s Michael Cuddyer has eight of his nine homers and 26 of his 33 RBIs since May 1. If you need outfield help, take a look at this Twin.
HEAD SCRATCHER
After the Rockies made a change at manager, Garrett Atkins was quickly moved into the cleanup spot in the order. Atkins hasn’t hit a homer since April 25 and he only has eight RBIs over that span. I would not pick up Atkins and sooner or later he has to be dropped in the lineup if the change doesn’t give him a spark.
